Supporting Health

The club in partnership with the Ilembe health department has funded seven surgery camps between 2011 and 2019.

The cataract project has been know as "Brite Eyes".

The club in partnership with the Ilembe health department has funded seven surgery camps between 2011 and 2019 at the Stanger and Maphumulo hospitals, where a total of 1004 cataract surgeries have been performed.

The club is seeking partnership and is envisioning a future development in purchase of a portable theater equipment and instruments dedicated for Opthalmic surgeries, thereby enabling the club to have use of a spare operating theatre in Mapumuo hospital which is not equiped for cataract surgeries. This will allow a double in the number of surgeries performed at each camp.

This will also enable the club to reach other rural hospitals which do not perform such surgeries. The club is keen on sustainability of this project going into the future.
