Saving Mother & Children

The Rotary Club of ZImbali has been supporting Summerhill home on an ongoing basis since 2011. - Establishment of the food gardens, Assisting with the feeding scheme, providing furniture, appliances and educational equipment and upkeep of their facilities and amenities.

Summerhill Home Registered NPO

Summerhill House is a registered NPO, whose sole vision is to provide homes for and care for orphaned children who have been directly affected by the HIV Pandemic. The centre currently comprise of the following : -
Four houses - Each is home to 6 children and 1 house mother
Community centre
Library
Sports fields
SummerHill House also runs a feeding scheme, providing hot meals daily during the school holidays for approximately over 200 disadvantaged children, provides daily homework assistance conducted by volunteers, arrange sporting activities and day outings.

Youth Program

Annually the club sponsors selected scholars from the local schools to participate in Youth leadership courses and seminars. Creating opportunities its at the core of Rotary Club of Zimbali to ensure the youth in the community are properly engaged.

Faribreez Community

Fairbreeze is a local suburb with predominantly disadvantaged families, many of whom are unemployed and rely on government grants. The club engaged with the community leaders and with their help, embarked on some essential uplifment programs.

Safe Homes

The club began supporting the Tongaat child and family welfare society on on ongoing basis after the establishment of the "Pure heart safe home". This is a temporary housing facility for abused children. This continues to ensure children and mothers are provided for.

Support & relief

As a result of the strict lockdown regulations, several familiest were affected due to the loss of Income. The club supported several local orgarnisations that ran feeding schemes by putting together and donating over 2500 ready to cook nutrition meal packs, each capable of feeding a family of four people.

Disaster Releif

The aftrer math of Unrest in our community resulted in a shortage of basic necessities. Due to the generosity of a group of farmers from Heidelberg, the club was able to secure Ten Tonnes of beef mince and maize meal which was distributed to various charity organizations and places of care. Food parcel distribution continues regularly.

Flood Relief

In April 2022 parts of the North Coast of Kwazulu-natal were severely affect with damages caused by flooding. With the aid of financial support from Rotarty distric 9370 disaster relief fund, R.C Waterfront (D9350) and private donations, the club was able to provide assistance and relief to the most affected and vulnerable in the community.
