Supporting Education in Schools

Raised
R440,000 56%

The bursary program at Nkosibomvu Secondary School in Hambanathi, Tongaat, was launched in 2010 with the generous support of donors from Germany. Since its inception, the initiative has provided annual financial support to 30 academically outstanding yet financially disadvantaged Grade 12 learners.

The comprehensive bursary covers:

  • School fees

  • School uniforms

  • Transport costs

  • Extra tuition support, and

  • University or college application fees to assist learners in securing admission to tertiary institutions post-matric.

The program has not only lightened the financial burden on learners and their families but also significantly improved access to higher education opportunities for deserving students.

While initially envisioned to run until 2024, the Rotary Club of Zimbali is actively working to extend the lifespan of the program and broaden its impact. A key goal moving forward is to subsidise the cost of tertiary education for the top-performing learners who progress beyond matric—ensuring that their academic journey does not end due to financial constraints.

This vision reflects the club’s long-term commitment to educational empowerment, youth development, and sustainable community upliftment.

It takes just R5,000 per learner per year to keep a deserving Grade 12 student in school and on the path to success.

Your support covers essentials like school fees, uniforms, transport, extra tuition, and university application fees—giving learners not just access to education, but a real chance at a better future.

Every contribution makes a difference.
